Whenever you're done looting and organizing your equipment, proceed through the gate to continue. There's a treasure chest in the opposite corner of this room as the gate, up on the ledge on the far side. Finish off the stragglers if you wish, and be sure to loot what you can. Keep fighting and, once enough are killed, a far gate will open. There, you'll be jumped by dozens of goblins, just like you were outside. You'll enter the second area of the Underground Pits by passing under a stone bridge. Andriel can cast a spell to remove the wall and get to some goodies behind it. A few steps into this, if you face right, you'll see a glowing symbol on a wall. though, shortly, you'll be dumped to a pit underground. You'll eventually pass through a small gate that leads up stairs. Once it's clear, be sure to loot the treasure chest over on the far side of the area behind a crumbled wall (it's to the far left if you're facing the front door). Even Farin can get overwhelmed pretty easily. In general, as with this fight, you'll need to see what they're doing and try to help them out. You'll almost never use the defense command: it's best used when they're being overly aggressive and drawing too many attackers, and you find yourself in a position unable to help them. Meanwhile, hitting Down on the d-pad will order them to just start defending themselves. If you press Up on the d-pad, you'll order them to attack whatever you're currently attacking. Your AI-controlled teammates won't automatically coordinate their attacks with yours. Once you do, you can proceed through the gate and continue to the next area. At that point, enemies will stop spawning, but you'll still need to mop up the remaining forces. Once enough enemies are dead, a gate will open one of your teammates will point it out, and you can click the right analog stick to center the camera on the gate. Your task is to survive the gauntlet, killing everything in your path. This battle is the first of many where you will be vastly outnumbered by weaklings. Once you pass into the second area, you'll be attacked by archers from all directions. You keep the same inventory when switching between characters, so it can be a good idea to keep up to date equipment for all characters in your inventory. If you change to a different character, you will need to apply your levels and choose the equipment from that character. The party will equip themselves and choose their skills automatically. Note that your AI-controlled party members will level up on their own, and you keep all the loot.
